Everybody had a Big Mommy, Mema or Aunt who was always in the kitchen cooking. There was always that house that you'd go to where there was always something on the stove. Well for me, it was my Big Mommy, aka my grandmother. That's where it all began.
Big mommy taught me a lot and cooking became my therapy. She was the Grand teacher, not with any books, measuring cups, physics or math, but with love patience, and kindness. She was the one who, when the world was too much for me to deal with, would say, "You kill a person with kindness". I still live by those words and will never forget them. I even apply it in the kitchen. Food has to be properly cleaned, and not only taste good but also look good. Big mommy didn't play and everybody couldn't wait to go to her house, because they knew if nothing else, they would have some good food and make good memories.
Southern Comfort was established to create that same atmosphere of, "Good Food, Good Friends, and Good Times". It's our hope that when you dine with us, you have that same enjoyable experience as if you were going to Big Mommy's house.
